Game Frame is a grid of 256 ultra-bright LED pixels, perfect for showcasing pixel art and old school video game graphics. This fully assembled kit comes with a solid wooden frame, microSD card pre-loaded with custom eBoy artwork, remote control, and a 5V 3.6A power supply. This is the first major revision of Game Frame and includes several improvements listed below. European customers: You may wish to order from the eBoy Shop in Germany for faster delivery.

What Is Game Frame?
It’s like a digital photo frame for pixel art, but way cooler. Each pixel is projected by a powerful LED though a mesh chamber and onto a sheet of white vellum. Colors are strictly isolated, and a black silkscreen sharply defines the grid. Since there is no global backlight, the visual effect is like a mix of traditional movie screen and OLED. It’s quite unique.
This is the first major revision of Game Frame since the Kickstarter Edition. It includes new features like:
- More powerful hardware that boosts the frame rate from 24 to 60 fps
- A handheld remote control
- Time-based automatic brightness
- Vastly superior timekeeping
- Combined Game & Clock features
- Battery backup
Thousands of images & animations can be stored on SD and played back automatically according to your taste. You may want to find some classic video game sprites, or draw your own in your favorite editor. Graphics are just regular BMP files, common on both Mac and PC, and installing them is as easy as copying a file.
To get you started, Game Frame comes packed with over 60 custom animations from the Godfathers of Pixel, eBoy.
The hardware is based on the Teensy platform (Arduino-compatible, but more powerful), and the firmware is open-source.
International customers: All units ship with a US AC cable. You will need to provide your own adapter or AC cable for plug compatibility. The cable that ships with Game Frame looks like this. You are also responsible for any duty charges at your destination. The power supply supports both 110V/60Hz and 220V/50Hz.
